The Airbus A320, mistaking a parallel taxiway for its assigned runway (28R), descended directly toward four fully loaded commercial airliners waiting for takeoff. The flight crew initiated a last-second go-around after being alerted by pilots on the ground and air traffic control, flying over the stationary jets by as little as 14 feet before climbing to safety. The near-miss was primarily attributed to pilot fatigue and the crew's failure to properly note that the parallel runway (28L) was closed and dark.
